This project involved substantial refurbishment of existing office space within a four-storey Victorian brick building, into a new private healthcare facility for Spire Healthcare in Sussex.

We were appointed to provide full design of the building’s services. This included the installation of new power, telephone and data, lighting, security, access control, CCTV, domestic water services, above ground drainage, natural gas pipework, medical gases pipework, heating installations, mechanical ventilation systems, ultra clean ventilation to operating theatres, mechanical cooling installations, and central plant to support the new installations.

The extensive building structure, which comprises original structure and new structural steel, meant the task was complex. We worked with the design team to coordinate with the building and structure and provide detailed services layouts and sections in key areas enabling a shorter installation period and avoiding time and cost delays resulting in site coordination issues.

Our work as sustainability consultants for the project also helped the refurbished building to achieve a BREEAM “Very Good” rating.
