Brookfield Close, Brentwood – Commencement of Demolition Works Monday, 22 April, 2024
Hamson Barron Smith are pleased to report that an important milestone has been reached at our Brookfield Close housing redevelopment project in Brentwood; works have now commenced on site to demolish the existing garages, bungalows, houses and flats on the site.
Hamson Barron Smith have tendered and procured the demolition works to the site as an enabling package of works to help the client reduce on-going costs being incurred for security, council tax rates and to create a safe site ready for the proposed development by the main contractor.
Procurement for the demolition works was via the Crown Commercial Services framework with the appointment of Erith Group under a JCT Intermediate Contractor 2016. Several months of planning have been undertaken with the organisation of utility disconnections and meter removals in close liaison between Hamson Barron Smith and our client, Brentwood Borough Council.
Works commenced on 2nd April and are due to complete in late June 2024 in time for the main contractor to mobilise and commence the proposed development works in Autumn 2024.
To mark this exciting milestone for the project, a site visit recently took place with Jonathan Stephenson (CEO Brentwood Borough Council), Paulette McAllister (Strategic Housing Programme Development Director), Max Harrison (Associate Director Hamson Barron Smith), Scott Lardner (Erith Group Senior Contracts Manager) and Ryan Darsey (Erith Group Site Manager).
