Care Village set to welcome new residents Wednesday, 13 April, 2016

Bowthorpe Care Village, the new £19m specialist dementia care and Housing with Care scheme designed by Hamson Barron Smith, is set to open its doors next week.

From Monday, residents will begin to move into their new accommodation, which replaces four outdated and unfit for purpose local facilities.

Situated on the outskirts of Norwich, the 2.3 hectare site, consists of three main buildings:

  • Mayflower Court – an 80 bed specialist dementia care facility run by client NorseCare
  • The Meadows – a 92-apartment Housing with Care scheme run by Saffron Housing, with NorseCare providing the care to tenants
  • A central hub – with facilities including a restaurant, café, hairdressers, bar and community shop.

Externally, extensive landscaped gardens offer fantastic views over the Yare Valley.

Karen Knight, Managing Director of NorseCare, said: “This is a stunning building and we’re delighted that residents and tenants will soon be able to move into their new homes. The project has gone incredibly smoothly for something of its size and complexity, and what the partners have been able to deliver is a huge testament to their hard work and collaboration.”
