Planning approved for Wymondham housing scheme Wednesday, 21 June, 2017

Architects at Hamson Barron Smith have successfully achieved planning permission for six new dwellings within the Conservation Area of Wymondham, at the South Norfolk Planning Committee.

The scheme incorporates two to three bedroom houses available for private sale set in Wymondham’s market town centre.

The challenging site constraints have been resolved by creating a central courtyard to each dwelling; providing natural light and ventilation to all internal rooms. The ground floor plan can be opened up to obtain a fully open-plan configuration.

Externally the properties have been informed with the surrounding characteristics but in a contemporary manner. The elevations have been purposefully split horizontally so that the lower red brickwork portion suggests the continuation of the existing brickwork boundary wall. Above the brickwork, timber vertical cladding has been selected to reflect the local vernacular style.

The project is expected to start on site early in 2018.
