Our Haywards Heath office have successfully delivered a new £23m 6FE Secondary School in Aylesbury, for Buckinghamshire County Council Tuesday, 6 August, 2019

HBS Haywards Heath provided Architecture, M&E, Principal Designer & PIM professional services to develop the concept design and client ERs, with BIM level 2 outputs, to RIBA stage 2. The federated model was then developed further and delivered by BAM Construction under a D&B Contract with HBS continuing to provide a technical checking function as the client’s ‘Design Guardian’. This role will continue post completion during the Soft Landings evaluation period.

The school Sponsor is a Catholic diocese that HBS has successfully worked with before; completing a £3.9m expansion project in 2017 at the school’s High Wycombe campus. The sponsor has noted that they are delighted with the new school and are now busy inducting the new staff and premises manager before the children arrive in September.

The new school has a clear circulation and faculty arrangement with two classroom wings leading off a bright dining atrium space which provides a central focus to the building. Adjacent to this are the main assembly hall and drama studio. The sports hall and changing facilities are located at the end of the building allowing for secure community out of hours use. The school also has a chapel / community room and extensive new external social and sports facilities.
