Completion of Broadwater School Expansion Monday, 13 December, 2021

Hamson Barron Smith’s multi-disciplinary team are pleased to announce the completion of Broadwater School 1FE Expansion for Surrey County Council. The School, located in Godalming, provides education to 11-16 year olds. The project scope included refurbishment of the existing building to accommodate a new drama studio, SEN classrooms and Science spaces. A key part of the project was construction of a new dining hall building with a professional kitchen fit out.

The school strives to provide a stimulating, supportive and secure environment which is high in expectations and creates a strong feeling of community. Through our design, Hamson Barron Smith are very pleased to contribute towards the School’s ethos.

“The whole of our school community has felt incredibly fortunate to benefit from such an extensive project.

Our new purpose built Bistro allows our students to eat and socialise together in a bright  contemporary modern space.  The design has ensured that the acoustics allow for student to enjoy their meals and chatting with their friends without ever being overwhelmed by noise.

The new state of the art drama studio has also given our young performers a real sense of a professional work space with new lighting and sound equipment.  All our students can now benefit from not only learning how to perform, but also how to use technical equipment and develop an  understanding of a whole raft of creative processes.

What has been particularly wonderful is to see how much pride the students have in the new facilities.  It has made them feel really special to see the amount of work and detail that has gone into the build for their benefit.”
